Missing Dog Reunites With Owner

A dog was reunited with his owners after he went missing more than a year and a half ago, and this is all thanks to Facebook.

The owners of the dog, named Drop Zone, are relieved to have him back. Drop Zone is a show dog and competed twice before he went missing. He is a 4-year-old American Bully who likes to show off his smile.

His owners, Marcus Vinson and Blake Williamson, own Broken Mold Bullies and breed these dogs. They said Drop Zone went missing in early 2014 when he got out of the yard.

“We sent out several flyers of Drop Zone when he went missing, and the only response we got back was, you know, ‘We seen a dog dead like that on the side of the road, so we automatically assumed he had died,'” Vinson said.

But Drop Zone didn’t die. He ended up in the care of someone in downtown Augusta.

Earlier this week a Facebook post went out with pictures of Drop Zone saying he’d been abused and was covered in sores. It also claimed he had no food and only a bucket of rain water.

But the man caring for the dog said none of this is true. He said recent altercations with his neighbor’s cousin led to post being made.

The post eventually made its way to Vinson.

“I came across a post of a dog being abused,” Vinson said. “When I read the post it seemed pretty bad. But, when I looked at the pictures, I realized I knew the dog.”

That’s when Vinson and Blake teamed up to get their dog back.

“I was pretty emotional and upset,” Williamson said. “All I wanted to do was get the dog at that point.”

They met up with the man caring for Drop Zone and got him back home.

“We met at animal control out in south Augusta, and we had them take pictures,” Williamson said. “The vet looked drop zone all over and made sure he was good to go, and wasn’t in bad health or anything.”

Vinson and Williamson said other than having fleas, the dog shows no signs of abuse. They said he has a bright future.

“I just want to thank everyone that was involved in making this happen and bringing Drop Zone back to us. Regardless of how big or small your contribution was,” Williamson said. “We heard people were calling and coming down from all over the place, and we just want to say a big thank you.”

Vinson is now the full owner of Drop Zone and said he will be back competing in shows soon.
